Blueberries, Blueberries!

What we thought would be an uneventful afternoon turned into a bit of an adventurous day.  We decided to join Mie for a hike to the top of the tallest hill around and up the old fire lookout tower at the top. The path was pretty muddy and covered with mini trail-parkour courses. The sides of the path however, were laden with…Blueberries! Blueberries everywhere (at least near the top). The view from the top of the fire lookout was great. It was also kind of scary to climb up to the top.  The stairs on the tower are narrow and steep, and you can see straight through them to the ground below. Mie told us to go up without her; she’s never gone up herself.

On the way back down we stopped and picked a bucket and a half full of mountain blueberries. Mie supplied us with these crazy blueberry pickers that allow you to strip an entire branch of berries with one motion.

To finish off our adventurous afternoon, Monisha’s parkouring went awry on the way down and she ended up legs down in the mud. Luckily, no blueberries were lost.

Bjorg came over for dinner in the evening, and our desert for the evening was freshly picked blueberries and “vanilla sauce.” Yum!
